This sweet family scheduled their Emerald Isle Family Portraits to take place on the beach right outside of their vacation rental. With three boys, all under the age of 5 years old, we decided that a mini-session would be the perfect fit for their portrait session on the beach.
We scheduled to meet at 7:00 pm; just went the light begins to turn golden and all heavenly-like. I really enjoyed working with this family so much! Working with smaller children can be tough for some, but for me, I totally love it! Maybe it’s because I have my own four-year-old daughter who is often in front of my lens, but photographing smaller children is no hassle for me! I’m actually really passionate about capturing them “in the moment.” When they are totally themselves, wild, shy, silly…whatever that may look like!
I knew with Stevie and her family that I wanted to make sure we captured a handful of “traditional” portraits, where the entire family is smiling and looking directly at the camera. Once I felt that we secured those shots, I let the children run free and offered minimal direction. My whole goal is for when my clients look back on their photographs that I have taken, that they are reminded of exactly how that day, phase of life, or in this case, time on the beach together felt.
